Primary Industries Week is an
opportunity to promote the valuable contribution that Queensland’s primary
industries make to the State’s prosperity and the quality of life for all
Queenslanders.
Primary Industries Week was developed in 1996 to build and enhance public
awareness and understanding of the value and importance of primary industries in
Queensland. The week focuses on conducting events throughout the State to
celebrate, raise the profile and gain acknowledgement of the importance of
primary industries. More
information about this year's activities are available on the
events page of the website.
Some of the events this year are:

OUR PRIMARY INDUSTRIES
Queensland’s primary industries are
worth approximately $11 billion per annum and contribute significantly to the
economic growth of both regional and urban communities. Around 139,000
Queenslanders are employed in primary and associated industries accounting for
7.5% of the total Queensland workforce and 8 per cent of Queensland’s economy.
Queensland’s primary industries have been and will continue to be a vital
contributor to the State’s economic growth. The sector is an integral part of
the economy and by harnessing the rapid advances in science and technology, has
the potential to grow significantly and play a vibrant part of Queensland’s
future.
